Building skilled professionals in Indonesia Marine and Fisheries Sectors
The Government of the Republic of Korea, through the ODA Project “Establishment of the Integrated Ocean Fisheries Technology Training Center and the Enhancement of Capacity Building in Indonesia” (KOREA OCEANAID KIOTEC), supports scholarships, training, and a marine training center in Indonesia.
Endorsed under the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, the KIOTEC Project operates within the Early Career Ocean Professionals (ECOP) Programme.
KOR-IND Ocean Tech Capacity Enhancement Actions
Decade Action No. 13.7, under the ECOP Programme
Graduate-Level Education: Scholarships for MSc/PhD in marine science to address ocean knowledge gaps in Indonesia.
Short-Term Technical Training: Provide training programs in the operation of marine research equipment at the bilateral cooperation centers established by the governments of Korea and Indonesia.
ECOPs Exchange Program: Indonesia–Korea program to gain international experience, collaborate on research projects, and build professional networks.
Short-Term Research Support: Funding for ECOP-led studies on biodiversity, coastal, and fisheries.

Following the successful conduct of the 1st course in May, the upcoming second course, jointly proposed by government of Indonesia, will focus on a selected thematic issue within the marine and fisheries sector. The program is intended to strengthen participants’ knowledge, technical understanding, and collaborative capacity in addressing emerging challenges and opportunities in marine and fisheries development.

👥 KIOTEC Master' Degree Awardee & International Paticipants
The MSET is designed as a capacity development program under the Official Development Assistance (ODA) framework, particularly supporting the master’s degree scholarship program. Conducted twice a year the training involves 40 master’s degree awardees and aims to strengthen participants’ technical competencies in marine survey methodologies and equipment operation. The first MSET was focus on the application of marine physics measurements,, while the upcoming MSET will focus on DNA and water quality.
