The Early Career Ocean Professional (ECOP) Network Programme, endorsed by the UN Ocean Decade in 2021, empowers early-career ocean professionals across all ocean-related fields. Its vision is to amplify diverse new-generation perspectives and promote knowledge exchange with experienced professionals for ocean sustainability. Its mission is to introduce innovative approaches to global ocean stewardship by providing ECOPs with networking and professional development opportunities through the UN Ocean Decade framework.
The ECOP Programme defines an ECOP as anyone early in their career with 10 years or less of experience in ocean-related fields, including students, volunteers, and professionals from diverse sectors. The network supports young researchers and professionals by offering training, mentorship, and development opportunities, while fostering interdisciplinary and international collaboration.
