KIOTEC roles as Regional Training Center
On 6 August 2026, the IOC-UNESCO officially approved the designation for a 5-year mandate (2026–2030) to KIOTEC as a Regional Training Center (RTC) for Korea and Indonesia. This designation confirms that KIOTEC has fulfilled all institutional and technical requirements set by IOC-UNESCO, positioning it as an official hub within the global OTGA network.
As an endorsed action under the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, the OTGA network delivers internationally recognized ocean science and technology training.
The OTGA network aims to delivers internationally recognized ocean science and technology training. As part of this network, KIOTEC will serve as an RTC with the following functions:
Regional Hub: Delivers international-standard training programs for Indonesia, Korea, and the broader region.
Capacity Advancement: Drives technology transfer, ocean science education, and marine research skills.
Global Synergy: Connects local researchers and institutions directly to UNESCO-IOC ocean networks.
